This one-day suspension of service applies only to regular and commercial drivers’ licenses, and IDs. MVD offices will be open Monday for other services such as vehicle registrations, VIN inspections, road tests, etc.

announced today the Motor Vehicle Division has temporarily terminated
its relationship with an Albuquerque-based private MVD contractor after
one of its employees has been suspected of issuing titles and
registrations for stolen vehicles.
The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department searched the offices of
New Mexico Registration Services Inc., today and seized computers and
other software equipment used for issuing vehicle titles and

Mexico Registration Services Inc. as a private retail agent, allowing

NMRSI was subject to a search recently by the Bernalillo County
Sheriff’s Office and all of its equipment was seized as part of the
BCSO’s investigation of an NMRSI employee.
The BCSO and the Tax Fraud Investigations Division of the New
Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department have notified MVD that neither
the owners of NMRSI or the company itself are suspected of any criminal

Among new twists for motorists dealing with the agency are the ability

State officials said Tuesday a new Web site, www.mvd.newmexico.gov, that went live this week will help to reduce wait times at local field offices.
Residents seeking to renew their vehicle registrations will now
receive a slight discount if they conduct the transaction online, said
Taxation and Revenue Department Secretary Rick Homans, during a visit to
Las Cruces. Previously, because of an extra fee for vehicle
registration renewals done via the Web, the cost wound up being higher
than an in-person visit.
"People would go online and start renewing their registration, and
they'd realize, 'I'm going to pay more to do this online than I would at
the field office,' and just on principle, they got upset," Homans said

fashion.” Download PDF March 12th, 2010 MVD Offers New Online Service to Answer That Persistent Question, "Where's My Driver's License?" SANTA FE – The State Motor Vehicle Division is offering a new feature on its website (www.mvd.newmexico.gov)
that will allow individuals who have been issued temporary paper
licenses to go online and check the status of their permanent drivers’
licenses and identification cards.
“This new application provides our customers with a real-time answer to
that persistent question from those holding a temporary paper license,
‘Where is my permanent license?’” said Rick Homans, Secretary of New
Mexico Taxation & Revenue Department. “We are hopeful this will be a
useful service to customers and will reduce the volume of calls we
receive at our call center and field offices.”
Since April 2008, the State began using a new secure driver's license to
protect New Mexicans from identity theft, along with addressing other
security concerns. Customers are issued a temporary paper license valid
for 45 days when they come in to apply for a new driver’s license or
renew their existing licenses. MVD then runs the customer information
through a security check to ensure they have no driving violations, have
valid insurance and have been current with child support payments, if
applicable. The same procedure is also used to issue identification
cards.

ALBUQUERQUE – A 47-year-old Albuquerque woman pleaded guilty to
several felony charges in connection with providing false residency
documents to foreign nationals applying for New Mexico drivers’
licenses.
Rosa Pardo-Marrufo pleaded guilty last Thursday to four counts of
conspiracy to commit forgery; two counts of altering, forging or making a
fictitious license; two counts of perjury; and three counts of forgery
before Second Judicial District Court Judge Denise Barela Shepherd. Download PDF May 12th, 2010 New Mexicans Warned About Fake Driver’s License Scam SANTA FE – New Mexicans are being warned about a criminal enterprise that is using their residential addresses
to create false documents and obtain drivers’ licenses for foreign nationals.
The perpetrators are selecting random names and addresses of New Mexico residents from the phone book and
using that information to file the “Official Mail Forwarding Change of Address Order Form” with the United
States Postal Service. Using the same information, they are also generating false residential documents to obtain

million budget cut that MVD received in the recently enacted FY 2011

million, and it was reduced to $13 million in FY11. Download PDF July 14th, 2010 State-Run Motor Vehicle Division Offices Will Operate At Normal Business Hours SANTA FE – The New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division will continue to
operate all its offices at normal hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., reversing
its earlier decision to close MVD offices at 3:30 p.m. to save overtime
costs.
“MVD is rolling out a series of new initiatives, including allowing
our customers to make on-line appointments and a new point-of-sale
system. In order to avoid impacting services and to provide adequate
time to implement these new programs, we have decided to keep our normal
business hours,” said Michael Sandoval, Director of the MVD.
Sandoval said the agency will revisit this issue after successful implementation of these new services. SANTA FE – The new and improved MVD website that allows customers to renew registrations online and check wait times at field offices among several other features was recently recognized with the Digital Government Achievement Award.
The Center for Digital Government, a Sacramento, California-based national research group, announced the Award earlier this month. The Award recognizes outstanding government portals and websites based on their innovations, functionality and efficiencies.
“We‟re pleased with this Award that recognizes our continued commitment to improve customer service and provide easy and practical online options to our customers,” said Michael Sandoval, Director of the Motor Vehicle Division.
“The MVD Online represents the best in government-to-citizen state Web sites,” said Cathilea Robinett, executive director of the Center for Digital Government. “Each year, state and local governments continue to make strides towards implementing better access and more efficient Web delivery of public services.”
