Chapter 12: PDPS (Problem Driver Pointer System) Revised May 23, 2008 The American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) maintains a number of information systems facilitating the electronic exchange of information between jurisdictions. These include CDLIS (Commercial Driver License Information System), CSTIMS (Commercial Skills Test Information Management System), SSOLV (Social Security Online Verification) and PDPS (Problem Driver Pointer System). The PDPS is used to search the National Driver Register (NDR), a repository of information on problem drivers provided by all 50 states and the District of Columbia. PDPS "points" us to the jurisdiction(s) where an individual's driver status and history information is stored. Based on the information received, we must then decide whether the applicant is eligible to receive a New Mexico driver's license. For both non-commercial and commercial (CDL) license applications If information returned from the PDPS inquiry does not match the driver's information exactly, proceed as follows:
PDPS status codes
NOTE: If the applicant is not eligible for issuance of a driver's license, print the report and give it to him or her. Explain that the reporting state or states must clear the National Database before we can issue a license. |
