Starting July 1, 2025, eligible voters will be automatically registered to vote or asked to update their voter registration information while completing their driver’s license or identification card transaction. Eligible voters are at least 18 years or older, a New Mexico resident, and a United States citizen.
With one transaction, eligible voters will have updated information with the Motor Vehicle Division (MVD), Secretary of States Office, and local county clerk.
After completing the transaction, within a few weeks the eligible voter will get mail from the local county clerk with all the information that an eligible voter needs to know, including how to opt out if they choose.
