If you have a New Mexico CDL and it has been expired for less than a year, you do not need to retest.

If your New Mexico CDL has been expired for more than a year and less than five years, you will need to the knowledge tests.

If the New Mexico CDL has been expired for more than 5 years you will need to take the knowledge tests, obtain a CLP and take a skills test in a vehicle representing what you will drive.

If you have an out-of-state CDL, regardless of expiration date, you must retest to get your New Mexico CDL.
